The Main Idea of the Lecture
The lecture speaks about the personality of the Prophet Jeremiah in the Holy Bible, and explains that he was not merely the “weeping prophet” as some think, but he was also a strong and courageous prophet whom God sent to testify to the truth in a time full of spiritual corruption. God said to Jeremiah: Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you came out of the womb I sanctified you. This shows that the service of God is not a human choice but a divine calling for which God prepares the person from the beginning.
The Difficulty of the Prophetic Mission
Jeremiah’s mission was difficult because he was sent to rebuke kings, leaders, priests, and all the people because of their sins. He lived in a time when corruption, idolatry, and departure from God’s commandments had spread. Therefore he had to declare God’s warnings and warn the people of divine punishment if they did not repent.
The Persecution of the Prophet for the Sake of Truth
Because of the words of truth that he spoke, Jeremiah was exposed to mockery, persecution, beating, and imprisonment. Many refused to hear the word of God and preferred to listen to false prophets who comforted the people with false words. Yet Jeremiah continued to declare God’s message despite pain and hardship.
The Power of God’s Word in the Prophet’s Heart
Although Jeremiah sometimes tried to remain silent because of persecution, the word of God was in his heart like a burning fire that he could not restrain. Therefore he continued to speak and testify to the truth because God had placed His word in his mouth to proclaim it to the people.
The Spiritual Dimension
The life of Jeremiah teaches us that serving God may be difficult and requires endurance of pain and rejection, but God’s power supports His servants and strengthens them. It also confirms that a person does not lead his life alone, but God is the One who guides his steps and leads him in the path He desires.
