Angels and Demons

The Main Idea of the Lecture
The lecture speaks about the nature of angels and their role in God’s plan, and their many functions in serving humans and carrying out the will of God. It also explains the difference between angels and humans, and clarifies how the human being is a creation that combines spirit, body, and mind, which places him in a spiritual struggle between good and evil.
The Role and Functions of Angels
Angels are ministering spirits created by God to carry out His will. Among them are angels for praise such as the Seraphim who praise God saying “Holy, Holy, Holy,” and among them are angels for service, help, guidance, and protection.
Angels perform many tasks such as rescuing humans from hardships, guiding them, protecting them, and sometimes delivering divine messages as happened in the announcement of the birth of Christ, His resurrection, and His ascension.
The Power of Angels and Their Service
Angels are characterized by great power, as a single angel can accomplish great works by the command of God. They obey God completely and carry out His will whether it is for proclamation, warning, or punishment.
Their number is also very great and cannot be counted, and they stand before God and serve Him continually.
The Ranks of Angels
There are different ranks of angels such as archangels, including Michael and Gabriel.
The archangel Michael leads the battle against Satan at the end of times. There are also other orders such as the Cherubim and the Seraphim that have special roles in praise and divine knowledge.
The Relationship of Angels with Humans
Angels rejoice over the repentance of a human being and help him on the path of salvation. They may also carry the souls of the righteous after their departure from the world.
The church is also considered a place filled with angels, and they participate with believers in worship and praise even if they are not seen.
Spiritual Warning
Despite the beauty and purity of angels, caution is necessary because Satan can appear in the form of an angel of light in order to deceive people. Therefore the saints always tested any spiritual appearance so that they would not be deceived by satanic deception.
The Spiritual Nature of the Human Being
The human being is a creation that combines body, spirit, mind, and conscience.
He has a mind that can be correct or mistaken, and a conscience that may be influenced by knowledge or emotions. Therefore a human needs the guidance of the Holy Spirit and divine revelation so that his mind and conscience may be enlightened and he may walk in the right path.
The Spiritual Struggle in Human Life
The human being was created with a pure spirit in the image of God, but after the fall he entered into a struggle between good and evil.
This struggle between the body and the spirit continues in human life, and therefore he needs divine grace and spiritual guidance in order to overcome in this struggle and reach righteousness.
