The Law of the One Body
Today we speak about… the family as a cooperative unit, the law of the one body.
A man and a woman marry, but after marriage “they are no longer two, but one.” They are one in spirit, one in body, and one in everything.
Neither of them can say to the other, “This is mine, and that is yours.”
From the spiritual standpoint, this distinction does not exist, nor does this Duality… Everything in the home belongs to both together. Writing something in the name of one of them is a worldly procedure, not a Christian one…
They are also one with regard to relatives.
The husband’s mother is the wife’s mother, and his father is her father.
The wife’s mother is a mother to the husband, and her father is his father.
The husband’s brothers are brothers to the wife.
And the wife’s sisters are sisters to the husband.
Therefore, the forbidden degrees of kinship for the husband are likewise forbidden for the wife.
Both are one. Whom it is not permissible for one to marry, it is not permissible for the other to marry…
