A Servant Who Does Not Partake

I marvel at the deacon who wears the tunic, yet does not serve—while the tunic is the garment of service.

And I marvel at the teacher (the chanter) who never partakes. He also—like this deacon—participates in the prayers and hymns of the Liturgy without participating in the Divine Table…

Deacons and chanters are in a position of example to the people. They ought to be so also in partaking.

Likewise, one who is not prepared and not fasting should not serve. And if they are prepared and fasting, why do they not partake?!
