The Lord Jesus Christ Came to Elevate the Human Being

First: The Incarnation of Christ and the Elevation of Man
In the Feast of the Nativity we remember that one of the greatest things the Lord Jesus did was that He came to elevate the human being, not materially but spiritually. He came to lead humanity to the life of the spirit, so that it may rise above material things and the desires of the body, and live on a higher level worthy of the children of God.
Second: The Reality of Human Creation
Man was created from the dust of the earth, but God breathed into him the breath of life, and he became a living soul. Therefore, man is not merely dust, but a spirit dwelling in a body. This understanding changes our view of ourselves: we are not just a body, but a spirit that came from God and returns to Him.
Third: The Struggle Between Body and Spirit
There is a struggle between the body and the spirit in beginners spiritually, but the mature cause their body to submit to their spirit, and their spirit to submit to the Spirit of God. Thus an inner unity is achieved: a spirit leading a body, and the Spirit of God leading the human spirit, so the person walks in harmony without division.
Fourth: Worship in Spirit and Truth
In the Lord’s conversation with the Samaritan woman, as mentioned in the Gospel of John, He declared that true worship must be in spirit and truth. Christianity is not formalities or rituals without spirit, but a living relationship with God, where prayer is a real connection that springs from the heart.
Fifth: The Spirit as the Source of Inner Strength
The spiritual person draws his strength from within, so temptations and external pressures do not shake him. An example of this is Joseph the righteous, who triumphed because his spirit was strong. True strength is not in escaping trials, but in overcoming them by the power of the spirit.
Sixth: Holiness and Spiritual Growth
The Lord called man to holiness and relative perfection according to his ability. Spiritual life is not merely repentance, but continuous growth in love and righteousness. The spirit needs daily nourishment from the Word of God, prayer, and praise, just as the body needs food.
Seventh: The Life of the Spirit Is Not Formality
A person may bow with his body while his heart is far away. He may fast with the body while the soul does not fast from sin. True spiritual life is that the spirit prays, the heart is humbled, and the soul is truly connected to God, becoming alive in Him.
