How can a person be against himself?

⬇️ تحميل الفيديو

This lecture revolves around a profound idea: that a human being is often the cause of his own fatigue and loss, not because of circumstances or people around him, but because of his way of thinking, inner reactions, and behaviors.

🔍 The Human Being as the Source of His Problems

His Holiness Pope Shenouda III explains that real problems do not come from outside as much as they arise from within—through wrong thoughts, anxiety, sadness, anger, pride, and misuse of the tongue. A person may face the same problem as another, yet the impact differs according to how he deals with it.

🔥 Thought and Emotion

Wrong thinking creates exhausting emotions and may lead to sins, lusts, and psychological or physical illnesses. Excessive emotional reaction to problems is what exhausts a person, not the problem itself.

🕊 Faith and Surrender

A believer who entrusts his problems to God and faces trials with prayer and faith can turn a problem into spiritual benefit and inner growth, unlike one who surrenders to sorrow and anxiety.

👤 Character and Behavior

His Holiness explains how traits such as nervousness, gloominess, pride, harshness, excessive curiosity, and impulsiveness make a person against himself, ruin his relationships, and rob him of peace.

🗣 The Tongue and Hastiness

An uncontrolled tongue can destroy a person despite its small size. Likewise, haste and lack of deliberation in speech and actions lead to difficult consequences and regret.

✝ The Spiritual Dimension

The Pope calls for self-examination, wise self-blame, and changing the inner self before attempting to change external circumstances, because the heart, mind, and emotions are in a person’s own hands, and true reform begins there.

🌱 Final Message

A person is called to repentance and honest self-review so that he does not become the cause of his own suffering. By changing one’s thinking, practicing humility, and having a broad heart, a person can live in peace regardless of the number of problems.
