The Glorified, Great, and Humble God

This teaching presents the truth that God is glorified in His essence from eternity, in His attributes and unlimited power, and at the same time He is a humble God who draws near to humanity and glorifies His children.
God’s Eternal and Unlimited Glory
God is glorified before creation, glorified in His eternity, His oneness, and His incomprehensible nature. His glory surpasses description, and human language falls short in expressing it; therefore, negative terms such as unlimited and incomprehensible are sometimes used.
His Glory in Creation and Power
The greatness of God’s glory is revealed in creation from nothingness and in the resurrection of the dead on the last day. Creation, with all its order and precision, bears witness to His glory, as does His wondrous power in resurrection and judgment.
His Glory in Heaven and Worship
God is glorified by the heavenly powers, by angels and saints. Heaven and earth are filled with His praise. His glory is an unapproachable light, overflowing in worship and praise within the Church.
God’s Wondrous Humility
Despite this ineffable glory, God humbles Himself and allows earthly humanity to speak with Him. He does not envy His glory when He glorifies His children, but rejoices to work through them and grant them gifts, titles, and greatness.
God Glorifying His Children
God glorifies His children by creating them in His image and likeness, granting them glory in gifts, miracles, and service, and raising them in the resurrection according to the likeness of the body of His glory.
Our Calling to Glorify God
Just as God has glorified us, we are called to glorify Him in our lives, bodies, and works, through repentance and righteous living, making the glory of God alone our goal on earth.
