Between the Magazine and the Readers
*(Among the questions answered in the Friday meeting at the Cathedral, which are sent to the magazine.)*¹

Question
Are tithes restricted to the poor, or are they given for other purposes?

Answer
Tithes are God’s share of your money, whether you present them directly to the poor or through the Church, or offer them to shelters and charitable associations that spend on those in need, or place them in the Church’s box or in its subscriptions, or spend them on matters of religious service in all its forms, or present them for the building of the Church and all its projects and aspects of its activities. The important thing is that they reach God by any means.

¹ A question to His Holiness Pope Shenouda III – Al-Keraza Magazine, Fifth Year – Issue Eleven, 14-12-1974.
