What Is the Difference Between Divorce and Annulment of Marriage¹
Question:
What is the difference between divorce and annulment of marriage, and what are their causes?
Answer:
Divorce is the dissolution of an existing lawful marriage. As for annulment of marriage, it is considering the marriage as though it did not take place, as if it never happened. The cause of divorce is adultery.
As for annulment of marriage, it has many causes, including: if it was concluded between two persons who are united by a prohibited kinship, or a second marriage for a person who is still bound by a previous marriage, or if the marriage was concluded by coercion or (lack of consent), or if the husband at the time of his marriage was not fully virile, or was completely insane.
