1. His Holiness Pope Shenouda III explains that many people have a relationship with God the Father or the Son, but their relationship with the Holy Spirit is often weak; therefore, the Church instituted the Prayer of the Third Hour to strengthen this relationship.
2. The Holy Spirit purifies the human being from the defilement of body and soul and transfers him into a truly spiritual way of life, where one walks by the Spirit and not by the flesh.
3. The first attribute of the Holy Spirit is power—power in spiritual life, in the word, in witnessing, and in service, as seen in the apostles and saints.
4. The word spoken by a person filled with the Holy Spirit carries power and influence, because it is not spoken by man but by the Spirit of God working within him.
5. Among the attributes of the Holy Spirit are wisdom, understanding, and counsel, which guide a person in a straight path without deceit or hypocrisy.
6. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, granting uprightness in conduct and speech, making a person truthful and just in all his ways.
7. The Holy Spirit is the Giver of Life, granting spiritual life and raising a person from the death of sin to the life of true communion with God.
8. We are taught to ask for the Spirit of prophecy, chastity, holiness, justice, and authority, meaning divine guidance, complete purity, self-control, and victory over sin and the devil.

 Conclusion

True spiritual life cannot be lived without the Holy Spirit, for He sanctifies the person, leads him, strengthens him, establishes him in truth, and makes him holy and fruitful in service.
