Number thirty in the Bible

⬇️ تحميل الفيديو

His Holiness Pope Shenouda III explains the spiritual symbolism of numbers in the Holy Bible, especially 30, 60, and 100, and how they express human effort, God’s grace, and the perfection of divine work

1. The meaning of numbers 5 and 6

  • His Holiness explains that the number 5 symbolizes humans,

  • While number 6 symbolizes the completion of human work.
From this comes the interpretation of 30 = 5 × 6 as a symbol of human work in its completeness.

2. The multiples of six in human service

  • The good seed produced 30 and 60 because they are multiples of six, connected to human effort and labor.

3. The age of beginning ministry in the biblical tradition

  • A person did not begin ministry until the age of thirty:

    • John the Baptist began at thirty.

    • Christ began His ministry at thirty.

    • David counted the Levites for ministry from thirty and above.
This connects human maturity with the completion of human effort.

4. The difference between 30, 60, and 100

  • 30: The maximum of what a human can do alone.

  • 60: What a human does when the grace of God works with him.

  • 100: The complete work of God alone.

🔑 The spiritual message
A person is called to offer their effort, but true fruits multiply only when God’s grace works with them, and perfection is reached when God completes the work entirely.
