The Financial Aspect

The Financial Aspect[1]
- Let not money be your goal. And do not worry because of it. Remember the saying of David the Prophet:
“I was young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread” (Ps. 37:25). - How beautiful this rule is, and how worthy it is of being memorized: “He who runs after money, money flees from him. And he who flees from money, money runs after him.”
It is not right to clash with the people or the church council for financial reasons. And it is not appropriate to complain before people about your financial situation. Rise above this level.
- The people love the priest who is ascetic, with chaste hands, and they respect him and entrust him with their money.
- There is a great difference between a priest who visits a sick person out of his love for him, and prays the Unction of the Sick (Qandeel) for him with all his heart so that he may be healed, and another priest who visits the sick and the non-sick alike to pray the Unction for the sake of “customary payments” and money…
- Your prayers cannot be measured by money. Nor is money a price for them. Free these prayers and purify them from the bond of money…
