The lecture focuses on the importance of the priest’s home as a mirror of his ministry and spirit: his home must be organized, calm, and present a spiritual example to the faithful. The priest is required to manage his family first so that he can shepherd his people efficiently and with experience.

The wife’s role and her qualifications
The priest’s wife must be an example, devout, wise, and not domineering over the priest’s decisions. Her role is to advise her husband in secret, help him manage the home and the ministry, and organize office matters and documents without declaring secrets or inappropriate interference.

Confidentiality and respect
It is forbidden to disclose confession secrets or discuss church matters in the priest’s home in a way that makes it a public house; the home must preserve its privacy and be safe for the family. The wife must not inquire about church secrets nor announce confessional matters.

Children’s behavior and their status
The priest’s children are expected to be examples in morals and church behavior, not a special team or aristocratic class or given privileged leniency. Proper upbringing of the children gives the priest experience to deal with the youth of the flock.

Financial management and simple living
The priest’s house should be frugal, relying on sufficiency and not extravagance, so the priest is not forced to seek income that embarrasses him. Trust in God’s providence regarding material needs is required.

Psychological calm and dealing with ministry pressures
The home must be a soothing refuge for the priest, not a place that increases psychological pressure. The wise wife creates a calm atmosphere and assists the priest with her psychological and practical support, and is considered a partner in the ministry if she is able.

Limits on the wife’s participation in the ministry
There is no objection for the wife to be a trustworthy worker in the ministry or an employee who helps her husband, provided she does not neglect raising the children and that her participation is acceptable and recognized before marriage or acknowledged by all, and she does not seek show or control.

Where to solve church problems and confessions
It is preferable to solve the congregation’s problems inside the church or in houses dedicated to the ministry, not in the priest’s home, so that family life remains private, the priesthood’s dignity is preserved, and order and tranquility in family life are maintained.
