Anba Misael the Traveller

⬇️ تحميل الفيديو

Pope Shenouda III spoke about Saint Misael the Anchorite, who began his monastic and ascetic journey at a very young age, possibly around seventeen. He was described as a man of great spiritual strength, “a mighty man from his youth.”

When he first entered the monastery, it was led by Saint Isaac, the father of the monks of Mount Qalamoun. Upon meeting him, Saint Misael greeted him saying, “Peace be with you, Father Saint Isaac.” Surprised, Saint Isaac asked how he knew him. Saint Misael replied that he saw in his face the Spirit of God, granting grace for leadership and wisdom, and thus recognized him as the head of the monastery.

After several years of obedience and monastic discipline, he was chosen by the anchorites to become one of them, entering the life of solitude — the highest form of asceticism and union with God through continual prayer.

A church named after him, Saint Misael the Anchorite Church, stands in the Monastery of Saint Samuel the Confessor, honoring his holy and blessed life.

The spiritual message of this story is that holiness is not bound by age, but by purity of heart and sincere faith. Saint Misael is a living example that those who dedicate their lives to God from their youth receive great spiritual power and become a light for others.
