Attributes of God – The Humility of God

The lecture talks about the true humility of God, and explains that God alone is truly humble: He, the Great One, lowers Himself and mixes with His creation for their love and salvation.
Manifestations of God’s humility
-
God listens to His creation and speaks to humans — from Cain and Eve to children and the prophets — and accepts dialogue and reproach.
-
The Incarnation of Christ is the supreme example: He emptied Himself and became human without title or prestige, lived among people thirty years in obedience to the law.
-
He submitted Himself to John’s baptism, sat with the poor and sinners and called them His brothers, and washed His disciples’ feet as a practical example of humility.
Spiritual and educational dimensions
-
Divine humility teaches us to endure blame with patience, and to argue with others calmly, not as conquerors.
-
God grants humans freedom despite the possibility of its misuse; this shows His mercy and humility in leaving people to choose.
-
God refuses pride: He argues and listens to humans, and retracts punishment upon repentance, being moved by dialogue with His creation (like Abraham and Nineveh).
Practical invitation for the believer
-
Imitate the humility of Christ in serving others and acknowledge our weakness without seeking praise.
-
Let our love be practical: we listen, endure reproach, and serve without asking for honors or positions.
-
Humility as the way to unity with God: for the Lord wishes to dwell with His people and accompany His children even in eternal life.
