His Holiness Pope Shenouda III presents a narration and commentary on texts of one of the Fathers of the Church (Clement of Rome) aiming to show the essence of his spiritual and practical teachings. The lecture focuses on a letter sent to the people of Corinth and addresses issues of division, envy, and repentance, with references to biblical and historical examples.

Main idea
The letter calls the church to reconciliation and return to spiritual and liturgical order, and considers envy and separations the cause of the entry of pain and death into the community. The author uses examples from the Holy Scripture (Abel, Jacob, Joseph, David) to explain how envy leads to division, then moves to speak about repentance as the way of healing.

The spiritual and Coptic Orthodox educational dimension

  1. Repentance as a central call: many verses and examples are presented urging believers to return to God and confess their sins.

  2. Humility and obedience: the writer highlights the virtues of humility and obedience, and shows how the saints lived ascetically and renounced the world.

  3. Ecclesial and liturgical order: he stresses the importance of order in worship, in the priesthood, and in arranging spiritual services so that love replaces chaos.

  4. God’s power and the resurrection: the world of nature and natural signs (like seeds that grow) are used as evidence of an approaching resurrection and of God’s wisdom in cosmic arrangement.

Practical application points

  • Uproot envy with practical love and educate children in the morals of Christ.

  • Reorder church life by respecting leaders and the rites given to the priesthood and the apostles.

  • Strengthen personal spiritual life (repentance, humility, obedience) so that the church becomes one body in peace.

Conclusion
The lecture presents a text rich in information, verses, and spiritual interpretations, yet it is not arranged academically; nevertheless one can greatly benefit from its essence: the call to repentance, order, and love as a remedy for divisions. All this is presented in a spiritual language clear and consistent with the Coptic Orthodox vision.
