Written criticism – Does God remain in the womb for nine months?

⬇️ تحميل الفيديو

In this lecture, His Holiness Pope Shenouda III explains a deep theological concept about God’s unlimited presence, rejecting the idea that God was “confined” in the Virgin Mary’s womb during the Incarnation. His Holiness affirms that God is not limited by space or time; He exists everywhere simultaneously—in heaven, on earth, and in all creation.

He clarifies that the divine Incarnation does not mean that divinity was enclosed within the human body. Rather, the Word of God united with human nature without being restricted or confined. While the child was in Mary’s womb according to His humanity, His divinity continued to fill the universe with presence and power.

His Holiness cites Christ’s words in John 3:13: “No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven, the Son of Man who is in heaven,” showing that Christ was in heaven and on earth at the same time, for His divinity is not bound by place.

The spiritual message of the lecture is the Church’s affirmation that God is infinite and unconfined, and that the Incarnation is a mystery of divine love—where the Creator united with humanity without losing His divine nature or boundless power.
