Written Criticism – Mistakes of the Prophets

⬇️ تحميل الفيديو

His Holiness Pope Shenouda III explains that the lives of the prophets cannot be judged by their occasional mistakes, for holiness was their constant and natural state. What we see as “errors” in their lives do not represent their true character or divine calling, but only temporary falls under certain circumstances. Prophets such as King David lived lives of repentance and deep communion with God despite moments of weakness. The Pope emphasizes that sin was not a fixed trait in their lives but a rare exception that did not cancel their holiness. The purpose of studying these falls is to learn from human weakness, not to condemn the prophets, and to understand that holiness does not mean being without fault, but continually striving toward repentance and union with God. Thus, holiness remains the dominant feature of their lives, while errors are only fleeting shadows that do not hide the light of their sanctity.

Theological Focus:

  • Holiness is the constant and natural state of the prophets.

  • Error is a temporary fall that does not erase holiness.

  • Repentance restores communion with God and reveals His divine love.
